WASHINGTON, DC -- Defending RSL champion New York Athletic Club dodged a bullet in Washington DC, scoring a go-ahead try with time running out in the second half to secure a 16-14 victory over hosts Washington RFC. NYAC led 6-3 at halftime, but Washington took the lead on an unconverted Mike Spencer try with seven minutes elapsed, then extended that margin to 11-3 on a penalty kick by Andrew Osborne at the 15-minute mark. After a yellow card left Washington a man down, NYAC?s Aidan Mara darted in for a try to even the score at 11-11. Washington regained the lead 14-11 with six minutes left in the game on a Simon Boyer penalty, but NYAC refused to panic with the clock ticking down and saw their patience rewarded with a game-winning try in the corner.

Beach Rallies to Squeak Past Bombers 28-27
ST. LOUIS -- On a fast track in St. Louis, the hometown Bombers burst out of the gate to a 15-0 halftime lead. Old Puget Sound Beach looked to be heading for its second straight blowout loss, but the Seattle club rallied in the second half, scoring three unanswered tries in the first 15 minutes to open up a 21-15 lead. St. Louis then regrouped, scoring two tries to retake the lead at 27-21 with 20 minutes to play. Undaunted, Beach responded with a spectacular try from their fullback, who chipped through the defensive line, recovered the ball and outraced the Bombers for the game-winning try under the posts.

Wilfley Kicks Denver to Victory Against Dallas

DENVER -- Denver Barbarians flyhalf Link Wilfley put his boot to work against Dallas Harlequins, scoring 18 points in a 34-26 win and pinning the Quins deep in their own end for much of the game. Dallas led 14-13 at the half, and despite the disappointing result the Harlequins earned a bonus point by scoring four tries.

Golden Gate Prevails 22-15 Over OMBAC
SAN FRANCISCO -- In an exciting, well-played match, San Francisco Golden Gate emerged victorious over visiting OMBAC.
