Off-season Club Movement Reveals Revamped Conferences and Renewed Rivalries

DALLAS (Nov. 2, 2005) – Today, the Rugby Super League released its 2006 regular season matches and playoff dates. The schedule continues to fuel regional rivalries that RSL fans demand, such as: Old Blue vs. defending champion NYAC (Week 4), PAC vs. Washington (Week 4), OMBAC vs. Belmont Shore (Week 5) and the renewed rivalry of St. Louis vs. the Kansas City Blues (Week 6).

Recently, the league welcomed both the St. Louis Bombers and the Charlotte RFC to its current competitive format. Off-season club movements forced the league to then realign its Western and Eastern Conferences, placing the Charlotte RFC in the East and moving the Kansas City Blues and the St. Louis Bombers to the West.

"The realigned conferences and the 2006 schedule have each of our teams eagerly marking off the days until the first week of regular season play on March 18th, said RSL Chairman Keith Engelbrecht. “The expanded reach of the RSL and the 2006 schedule have all of us believing that the league’s 10th season will be its greatest.”  The location of the RSL Championship match will be announced at a later date.
