The Washington Rugby Football Club (WRFC) U19 Camp has been Rescheduled for Sunday October 23, 2005. The clinic will  remain at Gravelly Point in Arlington, Virginia. The purpose of this clinic is to grow rugby in the Baltimore-Washington area by inviting local high-school aged athletes with an interest in rugby to this basic skills clinic. Further, the clinic will cater to players of all levels of experience, including none, by providing coaches from: the WRFC Coaching Staff who hold International Rugby Board and/or United States of America Rugby Football Union coaching certifications, WRFC’s native Northern and Southern Hemisphere players who grew up playing the game in rugby’s powerhouse nations, WRFC’s Rugby Super League players who play in USA Rugby’s premier 16-team senior men’s competition and WRFC members who have attained various levels of experience at high school, collegiate and senior men’s clubs.

In an effort to attract as many available young athletes as possible and develop the game, WRFC offers this clinic at no cost (FREE) to all (male and female) U19 (somewhere around early teens to 20 year-old) players (with or without experience) interested in rugby. Also, the clinic is being held all-day (930am-430pm) on a Sunday to try and accommodate busy schedules (players are welcome to attend the full or part of the day), and the venue is Gravelly Point, located just north and adjacent to Reagan National Airport, because it offers easy access via car, Metro or the George Washington bike path as well as portable toilets. Basically, the clinic will instruct participants on general skills like passing/catching, running/tackling and rucking/mauling plus unit skills such as scrums/lineouts and backline—before organizing a controlled scrimmage near the end of the day; however, more information will become available in the next two weeks as it is confirmed; please check the WRFC website: www.washingtonrugbyclub.org.

As one of the oldest and largest clubs in the Potomac Rugby Union (PRU), WRFC is proud and pleased to host this U19 clinic and encourages all area U19s to attend and participate; for more information, please contact Jeff Murphy jeffmurphy@peoplepc.com. WRFC would like to thank Jay DeMarco of the Washington Poltroons (Old Boys) and PRU President Eric Pittelkau of the Northern Virginia Rugby Football Club (NOVA RFC) for helping WRFC secure Gravelly Point as the venue for the clinic. In addition to the clinic, and as part of the WRFC Homecoming Weekend, the club will host a golf tournament fundraiser on Thursday, October 20; for more information, please contact Larry Jannes ljannes@sacginc.com, or check the WRFC website.Saturday, October 22, WRFC will host Baltimore Chesapeak; for details on these four matches, please contact Roger Evans rugbyrog@yahoo.com, or check the WRFC website.
